About the Role

We are now recruiting female Conversational English Partners. This role suits women who enjoy conversation, active listening, and supporting young women who rarely have the chance to practise spoken English.

Unfortunately, men cannot apply due to safeguarding requirements and cultural considerations for our students. 

Our students read and write well but have limited opportunities to practise speaking. This role exists to help them build confidence, fluency, and ease in real conversation as they prepare for upcoming English exams.

You will meet twice a week with a small group of Afghan girls who are fluent or near-fluent in English. Your task is simple: hold friendly, natural conversations and give them space to speak with an English speaker.

We can provide topic ideas if you prefer structure, but many volunteers simply get to know the girls and let discussions develop naturally.

Role Description

  • Host two one-hour sessions per week for 16 weeks
  • Create a relaxed, supportive speaking environment
  • Encourage open, free-flowing conversation, no teaching required
  • Use optional topic prompts if helpful
  • Allow students to bring their own interests and ideas
